The competition between Australia and India, particularly in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, has garnered significant interest from sports enthusiasts across the globe. At the end of the year, both teams prepare to play one another in another important series.

Star hitter Marnus Labuschagne of Australia talked about the main reasons why India is a formidable foe on Australian territory, particularly in light of their potent fast bowling attack.

For almost ten years, India has dominated the bilateral Test series with Australia, winning 2-1 in both 2018–19 and 2020–21 on Australian soil. The 2014–15 series marked the Kangaroos’ most recent bilateral series victory. An important middle-order batsman, Labuschagne highlighted the effect of India’s pace attack.

“What really brings them in Australian conditions and makes them such a tough team to beat in Australian conditions is their fast bowling,” Labuschagne said Star Sports.

The 30-year-old stated that he hopes to play against the greatest teams in the world throughout his career and believes that India’s elite team always provides fierce opposition.

“Anticipation is usually high. Whether we are playing in England, Australia, or India, it is always a difficult match for these two teams. I’ve always stated throughout my career that I want to fight against the greatest, and when you look at the entire Indian lineup and team, you can see that they are all absolute superstars,” he continued.

Beginning in Perth on November 22, the five-Test series might serve as a practice for the World Test Championship (WTC) final the following year. Given that Australia is now in second place on the WTC table and that India is currently leading it, the match is significant for both teams’ cricket schedules.

Cameron Green, an Australian all-rounder, stated that it is critical that this series be played with the WTC in mind.

“For the World Test Championship, every single point is pretty important. In any case, we’ll try to give you a notion of how to get the better of your opponent. If this is a prelude to another World Test Championship final, then certainly. We have been attempting to elicit as much information from India as possible in order to determine our chances of victory,” stated Green.
