After Babar Azam‘s poor performance in the first Test match against Bangladesh in Rawalpindi, former Pakistan captain Ramiz Raja has advised him to avoid social media. Bangladesh humiliated Pakistan by losing by 10 wickets, and the 29-year-old could not even begin to score in the first innings. In the second innings, he managed just 22 runs.
Interestingly, in the last seven Test matches, Babar has only managed 275 runs at an average of 21.15. Concerningly, Pakistan’s longest-running losing streak has enraged cricket enthusiasts and ex-players, leading to Babar receiving harsh criticism on social media.
In support of Babar Azam, Raja asserted that the headline is always about how the previous does business and that anyone may make fun of and attack any cricket player in the social media era.
“It appears that everyone in the country is fine with Babar Azam’s form.
Sadly, if you lose a game without scoring any runs and you’re Babar Azam, the headline “How did we lose?” appears. And what action did he take? What did he bring to that? Next comes the social media era. Raja posted on his YouTube channel, “Anybody can criticise and ridicule anyone; this should be discouraged as much as possible.”
Raja is also concerned about the drop in Pakistan’s playing standards in international cricket. He said that although Pakistan hasn’t had many recent success stories, the supporters relate with them. They were unable to advance to the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals, lost the Test series against Australia, lost the T20I series in New Zealand, and most recently were unable to advance to the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eights.
