The Indian Premier League’s (IPL) Impact Player Rule has the support of Zaheer Khan, the new coach of the Lucknow Super Giants. Legendary players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have criticised the new regulation that the BCCI introduced in 2023. Five-time IPL champion Rohit Sharma has declared that he is “not a fan” of the regulation that limits an all-rounder’s development. Alternatively, Kohli stated that the regulation upsets the game’s equilibrium.
Meanwhile, Zaheer thinks that because the Impact Player Rule gives young, uncapped players opportunity, it is beneficial for Indian cricket. Genuine all-rounders, he said, are invariably valuable and unaffected by the norm; but, part-time all-rounders cannot claim the same fate. Additionally, he informed that all the teams will bear this in mind for the next big auction.

At a press conference, Zaheer stated, “This will become evident in the mega auction when teams start focussing on these players.”
