Sanjeev Goenka, the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), responded to rumours circulating that the team had set aside INR 50 crore to hire the illustrious Rohit Sharma.
Before declaring his retirement from the format in June, the Mumbai batter guided India to the T20 World Cup championship. He will still participate in the Indian Premier League (IPL), nevertheless. He was relieved of his captaincy by Hardik Pandya of the Mumbai Indians (MI) last year. Fans severely criticised the MI management for this choice, which resulted in a huge backlash. There were also rumours circulating that suggested Rohit wasn’t content with the franchise.
According to recent speculations, the five-time IPL champion captain might be declared free prior to the major auction. Rohit has the potential to ignite a bidding battle if he enters the auction. Goenka has, however, rationally clarified why it isn’t a feasible strategy to set aside INR 50 crore for the legendary batter.

“Everyone wants the best players and captain available. Not that it’s about desiring. Everything relies on what you already have, what is available, and what you can accomplish with it. “Every franchise will share the same aspiration,” he continued.

Zaheer Khan was appointed as the Super Giants’ head coach on Wednesday, August 28. The KL Rahul-led LSG ended seventh in the standings with seven wins and as many losses from 14 games, missing out on the playoffs after making it to the postseason in 2022 and 2023. Zaheer hopes to collaborate with head coach Justin Langer to lead the Super Giants to their first IPL championship.
