“The selection committee lacks a resource pool.” – Mohsin Naqvi criticises the depth of Pakistani cricket

"The selection Reports: PCB to organise connection camp to chart out the restoration route of the Pakistan teamlacks a resource pool." - Mohsin Naqvi criticises the depth of Pakistani cricket

Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), demanded “major surgery” to address the problems after the team’s humiliating elimination from the T20 World Cup. Since then, nearly two months have gone by, and the board has not changed anything. Additionally, Pakistan was defeated by Bangladesh in the first Test of the two-match series in Rawalpindi, adding to the management’s strain.

When Mohsin Naqvi was questioned about his concept for the “surgery” following the loss, the chairman questioned the status of Pakistani domestic cricket.

said that the squad is trapped with the same group of players because the selection committee has no other players to choose from. He said that the “whole system was a mess” and that PCB’s recently announced Champions Cup will aid in finding new players.

“The selection committee’s lack of a pool to choose players from is the issue. We need to fix our problems, which is why I brought up surgery. However, we lack reliable data and a player pool to draw from when attempting to solve them. It was a disorganised system overall. Great talent will emerge from the Champions Cup, and game records will be available. You need all the equipment necessary to perform surgery, as Naqvi was cited by ESPNcricinfo.

Mohsin Naqvi anticipates that the Champions Cup would produce a minimum of 150 cricket players. He said that 80% of the players were chosen by artificial intelligence and that the PCB doesn’t maintain records for many domestic cricket players. He anticipates that the competition will provide greater clarity, on the basis of which they will form their next teams.

“We lacked records for many of the players we had.” The 150 players in the pool that will result from this Cup will strengthen domestic cricket, and the selection committee will handle any necessary surgery. Out of the 150 participants that were chosen, 80% were chosen using artificial intelligence (AI), while 20% were chosen by humans. No one can dispute that, according to Naqvi.

“We assigned our selecting committee a weight of roughly 20%. You’ll be the first to say anything is wrong if we swap out a player for someone worse. We’ll all be able to see clearly and with records who is deserving of a spot on the team,” he continued.
