Five cricket icons have been named as mentors for the upcoming domestic events by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The goal of this program is to develop the next generation of Pakistani cricket players while bridging the gap between domestic and international cricket.
The PCB made its choice as a part of its continuous attempts to improve and fortify the nation’s domestic cricket structure. The board intends to improve the calibre of play and give budding players invaluable advice by appointing seasoned mentors.
Waqar Younis, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, Saqlain Mushtaq, and Sarfaraz Ahmed are the five mentors who have been appointed. These legendary cricket players, who have all seen great success in their careers and have played at the highest levels for the Men in Green, bring a plethora of knowledge and experience to their new positions.

Their first task will be to organise the Champions One-Day Cup, which will be held in Faisalabad from September 12 to September 29. The mentors will work with domestic players and teams in this tournament. Chairman of the PCB Mohsin Naqvi stated his support for the plan.
“I am happy to announce that the Champions Cup teams will have five outstanding champions serving as mentors. The passion these people have for the game we all love, along with their abundance of cricketing experience, knowledge, and expertise, will assist the Pakistan Cricket Board find, develop, and support the next generation of cricket players in all formats. In addition to helping the Pakistan men’s cricket team, this program will also assist close the gap between domestic and international cricket, according to a statement by PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Waqar has assumed the role of mentor, having been recently appointed as the PCB chairman’s advisor on cricket affairs. The former pacer may be more appropriate for a team-building position that involves more active player development, according to the PCB, which did not disclose any particular explanations for the move.
