I'd like to play Test cricket, and I enjoy playing against the red ball the most: Rinku Singh

Rinku Singh did not qualify for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy, which is scheduled to start on September 5, even though he averaged 54.70 in first-class cricket. He is seldom far from the action in white-ball cricket, but the brilliant batsman has stated that he would like to represent his country in Test cricket.

Recently, Rinku Singh revealed how much he enjoys playing red-ball cricket and how he hopes to represent India in all three formats. The batsman, who was born in Aligarh, added that while it’s everyone’s dream to succeed in white-ball cricket, he also has his sights set on Test matches.

“I’m interested in playing the game in all three modes. I really enjoy playing Test cricket. In red-ball cricket, my batting average is 55. When I play against the red ball, I truly enjoy it. It’s really enjoyable for me. Bigger cricket is played in test matches. All cricketers participate in white-ball cricket, however, particularly in this day and age, playing Test cricket is a huge deal. I can’t wait to play,” Rinku said to News 24.

The next time I play in the World Cup:  Rinku Singh

In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Rinku Singh was one of the favourites to play for India. The selectors, however, liked Shivam Dube over him because he struggled to get going in the IPL due to a lack of opportunities. The cricket player isn’t disheartened, though, despite not making the winning squad. In spite of the fact that he cannot control the selection, he said he is prepared to put in more effort to qualify for the upcoming T20 World Cup, which India will host in 2026.

“Every athlete hopes to represent their nation in the World Cup, and I am one of those players. I performed admirably for India, but I have no control over the team’s selection. He joked, “Perhaps they (selectors) hadn’t seen me bowling at that time; otherwise, it would have been a different scenario.” “The selection committee made the decision because of the team composition (we didn’t get a spot), but it’s okay; I’ll participate in the World Cup the next time around. I’ll put in more effort.”
