Watch: Indian captain Rohit Sharma works out hard with Abhishek Nayar; video goes viral

In preparation for the hectic Test schedule that begins in September, India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, was recently observed working out in a Mumbai park.

India’s cricket team made history in 2024 when, under the 37-year-old’s captaincy, they won the T20 World Cup, snapping an 11-year drought for ICC trophies.

As the team concentrates on the lengthier format, Rohit Sharma must lead India to the World Test Championship (WTC) final for the third time in a row.

An rigorous jogging practice in a park, overseen by India’s recently appointed assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, was captured on camera and shared on social networking platform X.

India will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh.

The Men in Blue recently suffered a heartbreaking series defeat to Sri Lanka in the ODI format. With continuous scores of 58, 64, and 35, Sharma emerged as the series’ best run scorer, but his performance was particularly noteworthy.

Looking ahead, there are a lot of important matches on India’s Test schedule. On September 19, the team will play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh to kick off their calendar. After that, they play a three-match Test series at home against New Zealand in October, followed by a five-match Test series against Australia starting in November.

In the current 2023–25 World Test Championship cycle, Sharma has shown remarkable form. With 700 runs from nine matches at an average of 46.66, including three hundreds and three half-centuries, he is now India’s second-highest run scorer.

His performance will be critical to India’s hopes of holding their lead over Australia, which is currently ranked second in the WTC points table with a percentage of 68.51%. Prior to the Bangladesh home series, the other members of the Indian team will compete in the forthcoming Duleep Trophy.
