PCB denies reports that participants in the Asia Cup received official approval.

The fate of Pakistan‘s hosting rights for the 2019 Asia Cup was decided at an executive board meeting last week by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The Asia Cup 2023 teams’ participation in government clearance talks has been rejected by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The announcement followed a report that said all of the countries competing in the Asia Cup 2023 had been requested to obtain official authorization before travelling to Pakistan for the competition.

The fate of Pakistan’s hosting rights for the 2019 Asia Cup was decided at an executive board meeting last week by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). However, they were unable to agree during their discussion and decided to postpone the subject until March 2023.

However, according to a source in ESPNcricinfo, in order to go to Pakistan for the competition, each of the participating countries in the continental event must obtain official authorization.

PCB dismissed those discussions, noting Sri Lanka’s and Bangladesh’s recent visits to Pakistan.

‘In addition, all ACC members are understood to have been requested to examine their own government’s stance on whether their teams may travel to Pakistan,’ Cricinfo reported in a story titled Decision on Asia Cup venue postponed until March 2023. The PCB wants to make it clear that no such issues were brought up during the meeting and that no member made any mention of wanting to get permission from the government to play in Pakistan.

Recently, Sri Lanka travelled to Pakistan in 2017 and 2019, and Bangladesh will tour Pakistan in 2020. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka have confirmed their travels to Pakistan in the 2023–2027 Future Tours Programme (FTP), which has been approved and declared by all ICC Members, the Pakistan Cricket Board said in a statement.

According to several rumours, Pakistan will no longer host the Asia Cup this year since India is opposed to visiting the nation under any circumstances. In the meantime, a different source said that Pakistan would not participate in the 50-over World Cup in India if they were to forfeit the privilege to host the Asia Cup.
