"I'm grateful for the memories,"- Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma send kind words for Shikhar Dhawan, a former teammate

After declaring his retirement from both local and international cricket, Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan, 38, stunned the cricket community. After posting a video on social media in which he discussed hanging up his boots, Dhawan officially announced his retirement.

Upon Dhawan’s official retirement, a number of celebrities, both past and present, congratulated him on social media. Veteran Indian hitters Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were among the numerous stars.

In memory of Dhawan, Kohli wrote an emotional message on X, the platform that was once known as Twitter. The 38-year-old was regarded by him as one of the Indian team’s most trustworthy openers.

You’ve given us so many treasured memories, from your daring debut to emerging as one of India’s most reliable openers. Your legacy endures, but your love for the game, sportsmanship, and signature smile will be missed. I am grateful for your heartfelt leadership, remarkable performances, and amazing experiences. Off the pitch, Gabbar, I’m wishing you luck in your upcoming innings! Kohli penned something on X.

Rohit Sharma, The Greatest Jatt

In addition, team captain Rohit Sharma congratulated Dhawan on his retirement on social media. Rohit emphasised the collaboration he had had with Dhawan throughout the years.

Along with Rohit and Kohli, former India captain Ravi Shastri congratulated Dhawan on social media as well. Shastri spoke about the years he had been mentoring him.

It is noteworthy that Dhawan, an absolute mainstay of ODI cricket, played 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is before retiring with 10,867 runs in his record.
