The place of former captain of Bangladesh Shakib Al Hasan in the national squad is in doubt. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) received a legal notice from Barrister Sajib Mahmood Alam of the Supreme Court, requesting that the all-round player remain in the nation while the case is being investigated. The player has been charged with murder.
Rules set down by the International Cricket Council (ICC) prohibit a national cricket team from selecting a player who is the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation. Still, Shakib continues to play in the current two-match Test series against Pakistan. He is currently being asked to return to Bangladesh, though it is not certain that this will happen.
BCB hasn’t operated effectively since the overthrow of the Sheikh Hasina government. Shakib’s arrival in Bangladesh may be delayed as they gradually get back on their feet. The All-rounder can play in the series against Pakistan because Shakib has not been given a time limit for his return, according to The Daily Star. It’s also thought that he travels to India when the Pakistan leg is finished.
Nazmul Abedeen Fahim, a director of BCB, revealed that the 37-year-old has made himself available for selection.
But everything could be in danger because of the cricket player’s pending criminal case. Notably, a case was filed on August 22 for the murder of Md. Rubel, a textile worker, against his identity. Along with him and the previous prime minister, 400–500 unidentified and 156 named defendants have also been included in the lawsuit.

Because he’s playing cricket for his country right now, Shakib hasn’t commented on the situation. Shakib took Agha Salman’s wicket in the first Test match against Pakistan, despite conceding 100 runs in just 27 overs. He only scored fifteen runs with the bat. If nothing extraordinary occurs on the last day of play, the match is likely to end in a draw.
