"Hun hua hoon logon ke dilon mein basa." - After retirement, Shikhar Dhawan is not concerned about his notoriety

On Saturday, August 24, Shikhar Dhawan declared his retirement from both domestic and international cricket. 34 Test matches, 167 ODIs, 68 T20Is, and 10,867 international runs for India were all featured by him. The batsman, who was born in Delhi, is considered as one of the best openers for India in ODI history and has amassed 24 hundreds.

The southpaw led the Punjab Kings in the 2024 Indian Premier League, but he was sidelined for the remainder of the competition with a shoulder injury. Since then, he has not discussed the injury.

Three months after the competition ended, Shikhar Dhawan declared his retirement, stating that it was an emotional rather than a difficult decision.

It’s time for him to unwind and enjoy time at home, he declared, claiming to feel feelings of love and thankfulness.

It’s not difficult, but it is emotional, certainly, but not to the point where I feel depressed about it. I’m experiencing feelings of love and gratitude. It’s time to give cricket, or rather, “vishraam,” a rest after dedicating half of my waking existence to it. I’m really loving unwinding and lounging around the house,” Dhawan said to Hindustan Times.

Dhawan established himself as a phenomenal entertainer in addition to being a fantastic batter. The cricket player gained a lot of Instagram followers by creating and posting videos to the platform. Additionally, it has given Dhawan assurance that, even after declaring his retirement from cricket, his supporters will still adore him for the videos he uploads and that his notoriety will endure.

“Why would giving up cricket make me less famous? Who knows, maybe not only the fame will grow. First logon, then basa hua hoon ke dilon mein. Not just through cricket, but occasionally even through my clips on Instagram (laughs). I have no doubt that people’s adoration for me would only increase,” Dhawan remarked.
