The first Test was played in Rawalpindi between Pakistan and Bangladesh. The hosts, who were batting first, were down at 16 for three. A valiant partnership of 240 runs for the fifth wicket was put up by Mohammed Rizwan and Saud Shakeel. With 12 overs remaining, Shan Masood declared the innings at 448 runs after Rizwan remained undefeated at 171 off 239 after Shakeel went for 141 off 261.
Rizwan was greeted at the boundary line by his opening partner with the white ball, Babar Azam, as he made his way back to the pavilion. After tossing his bat towards Babar as the wicket-keeper passed the boundary rope, the former Pakistan Test captain caught it and laughed his way back. Babar made a two-ball duck on his red-ball cricket comeback, though, which left fans disappointed.

In reference to Bangladesh’s innings, in the last session of Day 2, the opening duo of Sadman Islam and Zakir Hasan braved the 12 overs. They had a significant deficit to make up when they started the next day. Hasan left the game early, but Islam finished with a fantastic 93 off 183. Mominul Haque made a noteworthy contribution as well, scoring 50 off of just 76 balls. Masood’s prediction that the pitch will slow down came to pass when the visitors were five down for 273 runs after 85 overs of play.

“We have never played in Pindi in August, so we were also going to bowl first. It will be difficult because there is a lot of grass on the pitch. It has rained as well, but if we bat well, it will be difficult to bat in the last stages of the game with the cracks, Masood stated during the toss.
