Reports: Jay Shah supports the ICC's INR 125 crore plan to keep Test cricket

The possibility of having a fund of roughly $15 million for the advancement of Test cricket is being investigated by the ICC (International Cricket Council). The fund will aid in the relocation of numerous talents from T20 franchise competitions as well as the increase of player fees.

It is important to note that Cricket Australia launched the idea, and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and BCCI secretary Jay Shah, who is slated to become the next president of the ICC, fully support it.

The fund will even cover the expense of sending teams overseas, in addition to helping to raise the minimum match wages for Test players.

According to a Sydney Morning Herald report, “the fund would ensure a minimum Test payment for all players, thought to be USD 10,000, and pay the costs of overseas tours for struggling countries.”

“The fund would cover the costs of overseas tours for struggling countries and ensure a minimum Test payment for all players, thought to be USD 10,000,” stated CA chairman Mike Baird.

“We must remove the obstacles and promote Test cricket as the finest sport in the world. to preserve that heritage and tradition, which complements the more modern variations of white ball cricket,” he continued.

The money will go towards supporting the boards that require it. In other words, since the BCCI, ECB, and CA are already well-known for giving their players large salaries, they stand to lose out from this. But Cricket West Indies (CWI), which has a reputation for having financial difficulties when travelling abroad, will receive assistance.

In addition, Star was discussed extensively in the report. It is said that Star is trying to strike a deal with the ICC and cut the value of the broadcast license in half from its initial cost of more than USD 3 billion.
