After the series win over the West Indies, Temba Bavuma said, "We can be a formidable side."

After a rain-affected draw in the opening Test match against the West Indies, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said that they could have won if they had had more time. They were hopeful that the second Test in Guyana would go well, but it wasn’t an easy feat. Proteas was limited to 160 runs by the hosts in the first innings, which put the team under tremendous pressure, but the bowlers produced an incredible display to turn the tide.

With half-centuries from Aiden Markram and Kyle Verreynne, South Africa took a 16-run lead in the first innings and added 246 more runs at bat in the second. West Indies lost by 40 runs as a result of their inability to score more than 222 runs in reply. South Africa won the series 1-0 thanks to the outstanding bowling performances of Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada, who each claimed three wickets.

Temba Bavuma gave the team credit after the victory and said they needed to maintain the momentum to win more Test matches going forward.

He thinks South Africa has the players they need to win, and he also gave the bowlers credit for forcing them back into the game in both innings.

“The feelings fluctuated a little bit. I’m glad the weather held up. Both sides participated in the match. We needed to continue putting in a lot of effort. Fortunately, the game went our way. When you’re inexperienced, you sort of anticipate that. We trusted the bowlers to get the job done for us. Keshav oversaw the spin division, with Rabada leading the pacers. We simply must continue to construct. We are an inexperienced team. The more the guys play, the more confident they will become. We can be a formidable side,” Bavuma was quoted as saying by News18.

After the win, South Africa moved to number five on the World Test Championship (WTC) points table. On the other hand, West Indies are currently at the bottom of the table.
