Nathan Lyon, a prominent spinner from Australia, is focused on taking home the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The team captained by Virat Kohli surprised Australia by winning the four-match series 2-1 in the 2018–19 season, and they did it again in the 2020–21 campaign. India was eliminated from that tournament due to a high injury to player ratio. Nevertheless, they pulled off a heist that left Australia bewildered and as indigestible as Gabba’s beating.
Australia went to India in 2023 to exact revenge, but they lost the series 1-3 badly. They now have an incentive to complete the story and emerge triumphant because India is scheduled to visit Australia later this year.
Nathan Lyon described it as “unfinished business” and expressed his intense desire to make things right and return the trophy to Australia.
“There has been unresolved business for ten years. It has been a while. Lyon told AAP, “I know I’m really hungry to turn things around and make sure we get that trophy back.”
Prior to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Australia has a number of issues that need to be resolved. Star batter Steven Smith was moved up to the batting order following David Warner’s retirement, but the seasoned player was unable to take advantage of the extra opportunity. In the second Test against the West Indies, he performed admirably but was unable to complete the task. Given India’s strength in bowling, it remains to be seen if Smith openers again or if Australia modifies their strategy.
Additionally, workload management will be crucial. Australia will be hosting India for a five-match Test series for the first time, and there may be times when the pacers need to take a rest. In relation to that, Josh Hazlewood, Australia’s top pacer, stated that while he hopes to play every game, there are always plenty of backup options available.

There are a few things to consider, but I always intend to play all five tests. I believe that a bowling captain may also be much more astute in that aspect, potentially offering the ball to Mitch Marsh, Cameron Green, and Travis Head for an over here or there. There are a tonne of additional bowlers there as well, according to Hazlewood.
