Steve Smith "not fussed" about his Border-Gavaskar Trophy opener

Star Australian opener Steve Smith is prepared to bat in the forthcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy at any position that the team management sees suitable. Smith stated that he wanted to open in Test cricket when David Warner retired, and the management gave him the go-ahead. He has failed to live up to the faith; in four innings, his 91 against the West Indies at the Gabba is the only fifty-plus score at the position.

In the home series against India, Smith stated he doesn’t care where he bats; all that matters to him is getting runs. Although he acknowledged that playing against the new ball is difficult, he was pleased with his performance against the West Indies.

“The folks in charge will have to answer to you, but I don’t care either way. Especially with the new ball, some difficult circumstances. Consequently, I would have preferred to score a few more runs. Sometimes that’s the way it is, but I felt like I played quite well at the Gabba in the second inning, even though we were unable to cross the plate. Code Sports cited Smith as saying, “It’s just a position to me so it doesn’t really faze me too much.”

I felt let down not to be playing in the World Cup: Steve Smith

After not being selected for Australia’s T20 World Cup team, Smith expressed his disappointment. He clarified that he was out of the running since the selectors preferred to support players with huge batsmanship. The 35-year-old has declared his intention to participate in the next Indian Premier League.

“About international T20 stuff, I don’t know.” There, you will need to ask the selectors. Although I was upset not to be playing in the World Cup, things happen as they must. They desired every star player. Without a doubt, I would adore returning to the IPL. I just need to keep scoring runs because I’ll be putting my name in the hat. We’ll see what transpires; you never know,” he continued.
