Many people believe that Sachin Tendulkar is the greatest cricket player of all time. Throughout the course of a 24-year career, the renowned cricket player broke numerous records and inspired future generations of players.
At the age of sixteen, the Mumbai batter made his debut for his country against Pakistan in November 1989 at the National Stadium in Karachi. Although he had shown flashes of brilliance since his debut, the right-handed batsman made a big splash on the international arena when he hit his first century in a Manchester Test match against England at Old Trafford.
At the tender age of seventeen, the Master Blaster accomplished this feat. In the second Test of the three-match series, he scored a magnificent century against players like Eddie Hemmings, Angus Fraser, and Devon Malcolm.
Tendulkar scored 10 and 27 in India’s 247-run defeat in the first Test at Lord’s. After being thrashed at the Home of Cricket, the tourists were under intense pressure to recover quickly. They didn’t, however, start the second Test off to the best of their abilities as they let up 519 runs after the Three Lions won the toss and chose to bat first.
In India’s opening innings, Sachin Tendulkar batted at No. 6 and amassed 68 runs from 136 balls, forging an important 112-run partnership with captain Mohammad Azharuddin.
India was knocked out for 432, giving up an 87-run lead. In their second innings, the hosts declared for 320/4, giving India a daunting 408 to chase. Tendulkar strode out to the middle with India behind 109 runs after four wickets went down. Soon after Tendulkar arrived, Azharuddin left, and the visitors were facing certain defeat at 183/6 after Kapil Dev was removed.
Still, Manoj Prabhakar provided Tendulkar with outstanding assistance. The latter took India to a draw with 119 off 189 balls, still undefeated. During his incredible innings, he hit 17 fours and amassed 160 runs with Prabhakar, who scored 67 not out.
With a 0-0 series victory for England, the third Test concluded in a tie as well. After Azharuddin and Ravi Shastri, Tendulkar emerged as India’s third-highest run scorer. In five innings, he scored 245 runs at an average of 61.25.

Tendulkar left the game 11 years ago, but nobody has been able to surpass his record for runs in international cricket to date.
