Australie Following India A’s 3-0 rout of the T20 series in Brisbane, women’s team captain Tahlia McGrath praised a number of the gifted players on the squad.
In order to win the first game by five runs, Australia had to work hard. But in the second and third games, McGrath and company showed their might by winning by eight and seven wickets, respectively. McGrath praised Priya Punia, who scored 116 runs from three matches at an average of 38.66 and a strike rate of 112.62, to finish as the second-highest run scorer in the series. Meghna Singh, an Australian pacer, and Saika Ishaque, a left-arm spinner, were also praised by the all-rounder.
“I believe Priya, who is a talented batter, attended her most recent India A-series here as well. And then you see someone like Meghna Singh, an exceptional bowler, and Ishaque, a fantastic spin bowler,” McGrath said to the press following Australia’s series victory.
McGrath also acknowledged that, although Shweta Sehrawat, 20, didn’t have a particularly successful bat season, she believes she has all the makings of an Indian superstar in the future.
There are several Indian A-girls that truly impress me. I’ve probably played with four of them in the WPL, and I’ve encountered several of them previously. I adore Shweta very much. McGrath said, “I think she’s a really good talent and I’ve loved seeing her over here in Australia.”
