Watch: Benjamin Sleeman shocked the cricket world a flying one-handed catch

On Sunday, August 11, during the Bunbury Festival, a charity tournament in England, Benjamin Sleeman made one of the most incredible catches in history.

Sleeman is a 14-year-old cricket player for Somerset Cricket Club. On social media, the county side was slow to share the video of the incredible catch. Fans haven’t stopped complimenting the teenager, though, since they witnessed his incredible fielding display. With so much cricket played these days, there are many great catches that are briefly celebrated before unintentionally fading from the spectators’ consciousness.

On the other hand, Benjamin Sleeman work is likely to endure over time.

The hitter took a step outside and struck a leg-spinner back over his head, seemingly achieving a maximum with the attractive shot. On the other hand, Benjamin Sleeman, positioned at long-on, quickly made a full-stretch dive to his left and grabbed the ball with his left hand. When the non-striker sees the blinder, it becomes evident just how exceptional Sleeman’s effort was. After witnessing the young cricket player’s flash of genius, the former had his hands on his head.

“Check out this INSANE catch from Cornwall’s Benjamin Sleeman at the Bunbury Festival earlier today!” Somerset said in the video’s caption.

As it was merely a charity event, sadly, there was no scoreboard and very little information was provided about the batter, bowler, non-striker, or any other players. In the England Domestic One-Day Cup 2024, Somerset is a current competitor.

With six wins and two losses from their opening eight games, they sit atop Group A’s points table. The team captained by Sean Dickson leads the league with a stellar net run rate of +1.228. They have also won three straight games after defeating Middlesex, Worcestershire, and Northamptonshire.
