Taskin Ahmed rejoins the Bangladeshi Test team in preparation for the coming series against Pakistan

The Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed that Bangladeshi bowler Taskin Ahmed is fit to play longer-format matches after he recently expressed his desire to rejoin the international red-ball cricket team. As such, he is now part of the 15-man team that will go to Pakistan for the two-game Test series.

After asking the BCB for an exemption to heal from a shoulder injury while fulfilling his white-ball obligations, Taskin last appeared in a Test match in June 2023. Now, he is ready to take advantage of a chance to make a Test return.

Gazi Ashraf Hossain, the chairman of the national selection panel, discussed Taskin’s selection and stated that because of his protracted absence from red-ball cricket, Taskin will only be playing in the second Test. In an effort to assist Taskin in finding his rhythm, he also stated that he was purposefully included in the Bangladesh A team for the second four-day game against Pakistan.

The fact that Taskin Ahmed would only play in the second Test has led us to choose five pacers.

As per, Hossain said, “We have decided to include him in the ‘A’ team for the second four-dayer against Pakistan A to get him into the rhythm for longer-version matches. He hasn’t bowled in a Test since June last year.”

Hossain further, saying that the expectation that multiple pace bowlers will be selected for the A team for the one-day games was another reason for having Taskin in the 15-man lineup. So, in order to guarantee squad depth, trustworthy backups were required.

“We needed backups because a few of the pacers might play with the A Team in the one-day matches. Our assault features a number of bowlers who can swing the ball and bowl quickly, and Hossain expressed excitement in watching them perform against elite hitters.

It should be helpful that they have familiarity with these conditions: hossain

Hossain said that Bangladesh would face a hard task and a rigorous test in the forthcoming tour, praising Pakistan’s formidable abilities, especially at home. Expanding on his previous remarks, he said that a number of players—including some with significant experience—would be included in the Test configuration, and their knowledge of the local environment would be of great use.

It will be a difficult tour for us because Pakistan is a very formidable opponent, particularly at home. That we will have more time in Lahore to be ready is a positive thing. Additionally, a few players who are currently with Bangladesh A in Pakistan will be joining the national team for the Test series. Their familiarity with the circumstances should be beneficial “continued Hossain.

Due to a political upheaval in the nation, the team is leaving earlier than planned. They will meet in Lahore and train at the Gaddafi Stadium from August 14 to August 16. The Pakistan Cricket Board allowed them to preempt their trip in an act of kindness. The first Test is set to start on August 21, thus on August 17 they will travel to Islamabad to get ready.
