The posting of a touching photo online, PBKS star Jitesh Sharma announces his engagement to Shalaka Makeshwar

On August 9, Jitesh Sharma, a wicketkeeper-batter who was born in Amravati and has been a member of the Punjab Kings since 2022, revealed on his official Instagram account that he was engaged to Shalaka Makeshwar.

In the touching post, Shalaka—a native of Nagpur with an engineering education and a career in IT—was tagged. The picture showed the couple, who were both carrying gorgeous bouquets of flowers and wearing floral garlands, staring into each other’s eyes.

The caption for the announcement stated that the couple got engaged the day before, even though it was made on August 9.

Since the news, there has been a lot of interest, and many people, including Jitesh Sharma’s friends and teammates, have sent their sincere congratulations.

Prominent individuals who have publicly celebrated this happy milestone, like Washington Sundar, Avesh Khan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Arshdeep Singh, are among those wishing him well.

Although their wedding date is still unknown, this engagement signifies the start of a momentous new chapter in his life. This marks a significant turning point in his life and the start of a new chapter filled with hopes and dreams. In the hopes of converting this encouraging momentum into a successful continuation of his cricket career, Sharma is ready to greet this new chapter with excitement and optimism.

His career in cricket was concluded in the IPL 2024, when he played for PBKS and scored 187 runs in 12 innings. Amazingly, he didn’t really make an impression until after the Cricket World Cup 2023, when he was picked for the Twenty20 International series against Australia, South Africa, and Afghanistan. There was a much of conjecture and controversy around this time, mostly about his preference for the next big event in the Americas over more seasoned wicketkeepers like Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson.

In spite of this early success, he then started to lose form, which caused his status to drastically drop. In the end, Pant and Samson were selected for the T20 World Cup 2024, but he was noticeably left out of the list. In the run-up to the 18th IPL season, he will be keen to rejuvenate his career, hoping to regain his spot in the Indian squad and be retained by PBKS in the next mega auction.
