After Guy Lavender's departure, MCC starts looking for a new CEO

After Guy Lavender’s resignation, the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has started the process of finding a new CEO. Many changes are being made to important responsibilities as the owner of the Lord’s and the custodians of the game’s laws go through a transitional period.

Bruce Carnegie-Brown will be succeeded by Mark Nicholas as the club’s chairman in October 2024. Nicholas’s presidential successor is Mervyn King. In addition, Jamie Cox was replaced by Rob Lynch as director of cricket and operations earlier this year.

Lavender’s resignation as CEO was officially confirmed by the MCC in a recent statement.

The club recognised his outstanding leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic at the MCC, in carrying out the renovation of the Lord’s Cricket Ground, and in planning major events, such as the England 2019 ODI World Cup.

Being Chief Executive Officer of Lavender has been a great honour and privilege.

Following his statement of leaving, Lavender also shared his opinions. He expressed his gratitude for being the MCC’s CEO and his confidence that his successors will lead the organisation with distinction.

“I have complete faith that MCC will continue to grow; serving as CEO of this outstanding club has been an enormous honour and privilege. Lavender was cited by as stating, “The dedicated, outstanding, and hard-working staff throughout the club do an amazing job in support of the membership and make the MCC the wonderful club it is.”

Additionally, MCC announced that they have already commenced the process of selecting Lavender’s successor, which will be overseen by their nominations committee in the later half of 2024. Lavender will carry out his responsibilities with the MCC in order to facilitate a seamless transition prior to his departure, they added disclosed.
