Ihsanullah Janat was suspended from all cricket-related activities for five years following his violations of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) during the second Kabul Premier League (KPL). On Wednesday, August 7, ACB issued a formal statement on the debacle.
The ICC Anti-Corruption Code’s Article 2.1.1, which prohibits inappropriate influence or attempts to rig a match’s outcome, progress, behaviour, or any other aspect, was determined to have been violated by Janat. He faces a five-year suspension from any cricket-related activity as a result of this infraction. The 26-year-old has acknowledged the allegations against him and acknowledged his role in unethical practices.
“He has been banned from all cricket-related activities for a period of five years as a result of this infringement. The ACB stated in their statement that Janat had “confessed to his involvement in corrupt activities and admitted to the charges against him.”
According to information provided by the ACB Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU), three more players are being investigated for possible match-fixing involvement. Once their culpability has been established, decisions about their involvement will be made. The ACB also stated in its announcement that the ban on Janat is effective immediately and will stay in force for the next five years.
In 2016, Janat made his Afghanistan First Class debut.
On July 29, 2016, Ihsanullah Janat made his debut in the first class for Afghanistan against the Netherlands at the 2015–17 ICC Intercontinental Cup. He has participated in one T20I, sixteen ODIs, and three Tests. In Tests, 307 ODIs, and 20 T20Is, the right-handed hitter has amassed 110 runs.

In February 2017, he played his maiden international match in the ODI format against Zimbabwe. He made his Test debut against Ireland in March of 2019. In June 2022, Janar made his sole T20I appearance against Zimbabwe. He didn’t make another appearance on the global scene after this. Janat has amassed 1,568 runs at an astounding average of 56 in 19 matches, which is an amazing first-class total. At a pivotal point in the Khost native’s cricket career, he is handed a five-year ban.
