November will see the return of the Hong Kong Cricket Sixes

The renowned Hong Kong Cricket Sixes competition will return following a seven-year break. The iconic cricket match was first held in 1992 and ran for 25 years before being discontinued in 2017 to great acclaim from spectators worldwide. In November 2024, the event will reoccur as a three-day festival.

It is noteworthy that luminaries such as Shane Warne, Brian Lara, and Sachin Tendulkar have previously participated in this unique format. The most recent event, sponsored by the Hong Kong government and organised by Cricket Hong Kong, China (CHK), will be held at the Tin Kwong Road Cricket Ground from November 1 to November 3.

China Burji Shroff, the chairperson of Cricket Hong Kong, stated, “The strategic plan is to develop the Hong Kong Sixes into a global series, culminating every year with the grand finale at home,” as reported by News18.

We are thrilled to revive this legendary tournament, which highlights both our cricket credentials and our city’s status as a truly global metropolis and East Asian sporting hub.

Wasim Akram and MS Dhoni have previously graced the stage.

Unlike the upcoming edition, which boasts 12 teams, previous editions featured a total of 10 teams competing for glory. The league is an ICC-sanctioned event because Cricket Hong Kong (CHK) is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).

With players like MS Dhoni, Wasim Akram, Shoaib Malik, Sanath Jayasuriya, Anil Kumble, Umar Akmal, Glenn Maxwell, and Damien Martyn, among others, the league amassed a massive fan base. India, Australia, England, Pakistan, and South Africa were among the teams that created an impression in addition to others who had contributed to the Hong Kong Sixes gaining widespread recognition.
