The new batting coach for the series against the West Indies is Imraan Khan, who was only involved in one Test match for South Africa in 2009. The team’s leader, Ashwell Prince, resigned for personal reasons and did not accompany the team on their trip. After the series, Imraan will take on a more senior role at CSA after joining Shukri Conrad’s coaching unit.
Previously, Imraan spent the last five years as the Dolphins’ manager.
The Dolphins have won three CSA T20 challenge titles, two four-day series titles, and a one-day cup share in the 2020–21 campaign under his leadership. The squad has supplied the national side with a number of players in recent years, most notably Keegan Petersen, Ottneil Baartman, and Keshav Maharaj.
With an average of 36.58, the former cricket player has amassed 9367 runs in 161 First Class appearances. Throughout his career, he has also participated in 51 T20s and 121 List A games, but he has focused primarily on red-ball cricket.
Imraan, who played for 15 years at Kingsmead before accepting the coaching position, said that Kingsmead will always be his home after joining the national team and praised the KwaZulu-Natal Inland (KZN) Cricket Union for their support over the past few years.
“I am grateful for all of the support from the KZN Cricket Union. It’s been an amazing ride, and I’ve enjoyed beginning my coaching career at the union that has served as my home field for numerous seasons. Though I will always miss everyone here at Kingsmead, this is an exciting new chapter in my coaching career, Imraan said in a statement.

August 7 will mark the start of South Africa’s two-match Test series against the West Indies. Guyana will host the second game, while Trinidad will host the first. Following the Tests, there will be a three-match T20I series.
