Dillon Pennington will miss the Sri Lankan Tests of The Hundred due to a hamstring issue

With James Anderson‘s retirement, Dillon Pennington was anticipated to see some action during the three-match Test series against the West Indies, but that didn’t happen. In the final two games of the series, the team management put their faith in the powerful Chris Woakes, Gus Atkinson, and Mark Wood trio, and they paid it forward by helping England win the series 3-0.

Ben Stokes, the captain, expressed satisfaction with Pennington’s development during the series and said he would be “ready to go” against Sri Lanka. Sadly, the 25-year-old’s hamstring injury has derailed the plan, as he will now miss the three-match series beginning on August 21.

Dillon Pennington impressive 31-wicket haul in the County Championship helped him get a spot in the Test team.

He made a comeback to competitive cricket in the current Hundred after warming the bench for nearly a month during the West Indies series. The bowler bowled five deliveries for the Northern Superchargers against the Oval Invincibles at The Oval before being unable to bowl any more.

He pulled out of the competition on Sunday, August 4, according to, raising concerns about his immediate suitability for the Sri Lanka series. For the duration of the competition, Superchargers have brought up Derbyshire pacer Pat Brown.

Zak Crawley has also been ruled out of the Test series in addition to Pennington. During the third Test match against the West Indies, the England opener broke his finger and was unable to continue playing. Ben Duckett and Stokes opened the second innings, with the captain smashing 57* runs off 28 deliveries to lead the home team to a 10-wicket win.
