At last, Sarfaraz Khan has received recognition for his generous tenure as Mumbai’s representative in the local circuit. Sarfaraz was declared the captain of the Mumbai Cricket Association’s (MCA) team for the forthcoming Buchi Babu Tournament. Being the sole member of the Mumbai team to have represented their country in international cricket, the batter is one of the team’s most well-known players.
The youth has taken on the role of leader in the absence of older pros Ajinkya Rahane and Shams Mulani. With Mulani serving as his deputy, Rahane guided Mumbai to their historic 42nd Ranji Trophy victory in the 2023–24 campaign. Mulani attends the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru, while the most of the senior players are occupied with playing One Day Limited Overs for Leicestershire (NCA).
For those who don’t know, Sarfaraz Khan earned his Test debut earlier this year during the home series against England.
The hitter displayed his class in his eagerly expected debut, scoring three half-centuries in as many games. During the series, the young player scored 200 runs at an astounding average of 50.00. However, his first-class records are even more astounding.
Sarfaraz has amassed 4,112 runs at an astounding average of 68.53 in 71 innings. With fourteen half-centuries, as many hundreds, and a triple hundred (301*), he has demonstrated his ability to turn starts into significant knocks.

The MCA Senior Selection Committee selected the 17-member team for their first event of the 2019 domestic season. The committee was chaired by Sanjay Patil and included Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackeray, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligeti. Interestingly, Musheer Khan, an all-round player, who is Sarfaraz’s brother, is also a part of the team for the Buchi Babu Tournament.
