Sikandar Raza, a Zimbabwean, says he will not play cricket for Pakistan because - ‘Zim is mine and am theirs’

The seasoned all-rounder Sikandar Raza of Zimbabwe recently pledged his allegiance to Zimbabwe Cricket on X, formerly known as Twitter. Pakistani by birth, the 38-year-old has spent his whole life representing Zimbabwe. He moved to the nation with his parents, where he put in a lot of effort to become one of the top white-ball cricket players.

In a recent social media Q&A, he was asked if he would ever consider playing for Pakistan. The user suggested that if he did, it would help the team’s middle-order problems.

But Sikandar Raza was fast to demonstrate his allegiance to Zimbabwe;

he disclosed that although he was born in Asia, he has always been a product of Zimbabwe cricket and that he intended to reciprocate the team’s faith in him by remaining devoted to the Chevrons.

“I am a Zimbabwean cricket player who was born in Pakistan. I will only ever speak for Zimbabwe. I am merely attempting to return their faith since they invested time and money in me, and whatever I accomplish will never come close to covering that. Sikandar Raza answered the fan on X, saying, “Zim is mine and am theirs fully.”

Have you ever thought about playing for Pakistan? You could help resolve the middle-order batting woes.

Zimbabwe’s next assignment is to play Pakistan.

In relation to Zimbabwe’s on-field commitments, the team will play a white-ball series against a touring Pakistani team in late November 2024. There will be three ODIs and three T20Is in which both teams will go to war. November 24 is the date of the first ODI, while December 1 is the date of the first T20I.

Zimbabwe will be looking to perform well when they play Pakistan. The team recently triumphed over India in one of the three Twenty20 Internationals that they played, and the matches against the Men in Green should be no different.
