Reunited after a 12-year break, Joginder Sharma and MS Dhoni

After a 12-year break, former India speedster Joginder Sharma and the renowned MS Dhoni recently reunited. The fans were taken on a trip down memory lane by Joginder, the Haryana DSP for police, who posted photos from the meeting on social media.

The wicketkeeper-batter chose to wear a casual T-shirt, black trousers and white trainers, while Joginder was dressed in the police uniform in the photos.

“After a very long time, it was good to meet @mahi7781. Joginder posted a picture of himself on Instagram with the message, “The fun of meeting you after almost 12 years was different today.”

Joginder rose to prominence in South Africa during the 2007 T20 World Cup. Notably, the right-arm pacer bowled the final overs in both the final matchup with Pakistan and the semifinal matchup with Australia. He was given the high-pressure overs to bowl by Dhoni, and the pacer delivered each and every time.

Dhoni led India as captain for the first time in the 2007 T20 World Cup. Senior players like Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, and Sachin Tendulkar were absent from his team. But his inspirational guidance and several players’ game-winning performances enabled India to win a World Cup for the first time since Kapil Dev’s victory in 1983.

For those who don’t know, Joginder was a player for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) under Dhoni’s supervision. He participated in 16 matches for CSK in addition to playing four T20Is and as many ODIs for the Men in Blue. The 40-year-old, meanwhile, represented Haryana in 77 first-class matches and 80 List-A games in domestic cricket, where he took 297 and 115 wickets, respectively.

Joginder, who amassed 2,804 runs and five hundreds in first-class cricket, was also a useful batter. The Rohtak native declared his retirement from both domestic and international cricket formats on February 3, 2023.
