Suryakumar Yadav gave the ball to Rinku Singh to bowl the penultimate over when Mohammed Siraj and Khaleel Ahmed had one over remaining each. Head coach Gautam Gambhir smiled merrily as he struck on the second delivery.
Before well-set Kusal Perera was bowled out by Rinku Singh spin, Sri Lanka still had six wickets in hand. Later, in the penultimate over, the southpaw dismissed Ramesh Mendis with the last ball after giving up just three runs. The young player’s battle with the ball appeared to be enjoyable for Gambhir, who was positioned in the dugout.
