According to reports, Mohsin Naqvi will succeed Jay Shah as president of the ACC in January 2025

As the president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), is expected to succeed Jay Shah, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

As Shah’s term was due to expire, the ACC decided to give him a one-year extension during its meeting in Bali in January 2024. Daily Ausaf claims that Mohsin Naqvi will assume control of the coveted role in January 2025.

Shah may run for the International Cricket Council (ICC) chairmanship, according to a number of stories that indicate he is eager to hold the position. A few weeks prior, the ICC had held the meeting in Colombo, and Shah’s claim was kept under wraps. Previously, the only two Indians to hold the position of Apex Council chairman were Narayanaswami Srinivasan and Shashank Manohar.

Additional information gleaned from the reports is that Bangladesh will host the Men’s Asia Cup in ODI format in 2027, while India has been awarded the hosting rights for the T20I version in 2025. The Asia Cup 2025 itinerary has not yet been released, however it is expected to take place in September of that year.

Reluctant to send an Indian squad to Pakistan is BCCI.

The world’s attention is focused on the Champions Trophy 2025, which is expected to take place in Pakistan in February 2025, before the Asia Cup 2025.

Travel to Pakistan is not authorised by India due to security concerns and the ongoing geopolitical conflict between the two nations. The Indian cricket board has been reassured by PCB, however, that all India matches, including the semifinal if India advances to the knockout stages, will be scheduled and fully secured in Lahore.
