Bangladesh to host the next ICC board meeting

The ICC board meeting will take place in Bangladesh’s capital city of Dhaka. BCB President Nazmul Hassan also stated that there is a chance that the International Cricket Council election will also happen there.

“It has been established that Dhaka will host the ICC board meeting in the near future. During an unplanned press conference at the secretariat on Sunday, Hassan informed reporters, “Maybe the election [ICC] would take place here,” as

Additionally, he stated that the election would involve choosing the new chairperson because the existing one’s term was about to end and that the official guidelines and authority were expected to be finalised by the BCB by that time.

Since the present chairman’s board meeting is the last one, I believe there will be an election (in the ICC). By now, we should have our election mandate announced,” Hassan said.

As of right now, Greg Barclay is the ICC Chairman. Barclay was unanimously re-elected in November 2022 to a second two-year term that will expire later this year. After surpassing Imran Khwaja with 11 out of 16 votes in the second round of voting, he was sworn in for the first time in November 2020. Following his elevation to the chairmanship of the ICC, Barclay tendered his resignation from his previous role as Chairman of New Zealand Cricket.

The Women’s World Cup, which we will host here, is crucial to us: Nazmul Hasan

Due to political unrest, there have been stories as recently as yesterday that raise some doubts about the success of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to take place in October of this year. Nizamuddin Chowdhury, the chief executive officer of the BCB, meanwhile, expressed unflinching confidence that the tournament will go as scheduled.

Speaking to the reporters in attendance, Hassan said that from what he saw at the just ended ICC meeting in Colombo, Bangladesh’s condition seemed bad and there was a dearth of external communication. But when foreign delegates saw him at the conference, he noticed a change in attitude, assuring them that things in Bangladesh were under control. Hassan stressed that no more talks were required in the wake of that incident and stated that the BCB’s top objective is still making sure the Women’s 20-over World Cup is conducted successfully.

“The country was in extremely bad shape when I visited, there was no external communication with Bangladesh, and the news they were receiving made them very afraid.” However, they claimed that at least they were persuaded that everything in the nation is well after meeting me. They only wanted to know what had happened and there was no more talk about it after that. The Women’s World Cup, which we will host here, is what matters most to us,” Hassan continued.
