August 4th, 2023, Brampton The Surrey Jaguars defeated the Vancouver Knights by a score of 38 runs in Qualifier 1 of the Global T20 Canada Playoffs to advance to the championship match. The outstanding bowling efforts of Karthik Meiyappan (2/24), Ruben Trumpelmann (2/26), and Junaid Siddique (4/22) made their victory possible.
In the second match of the day, the Montreal Tigers defeated the Brampton Wolves handily, winning by 9 wickets (with 34 balls left) in the Eliminator. Chris Lynn produced a fantastic innings to secure the Tigers’ triumph. The Surrey Jaguars advanced to the championship game based on the day’s results, and the Vancouver Knights will face the Brampton Wolves to earn a spot in the championship game.
The Vancouver Knights asked the Jaguars to set a goal. Mohammad Haris (20) and Jatinder Singh (15) both started as openers but were unable to score. By the time the powerplay ended, the Jaguars were down 45/2. Not long after, Pargat Singh (2) ran himself out, and Litton Das (16) also went off after making a good start. Ayaan Khan (29) and captain Iftikhar Ahmed (36) formed a partnership, however both batsmen were removed in an attempt to increase the run rate. After they died, their tail found it difficult to make an impression. The most impressive bowler for the Knights was Junaid Siddique (4/22), who held the Jaguars to 139/9.
The Knights’ initial response was a disaster. Due to the early removals of Rayyan Pathan (4), Mohammad Rizwan (4), Rassie Van Der Dussen (6), and Harsh Thaker (4), the Knights were battling at 31/4 at the end of the powerplay. After that, there was a glimpse of hope with Najibullah Zadran, 15, and Fabian Allen, 27, but they passed away too soon. Despite Trumpelmann’s (11) knock, the tail inevitably found it difficult to contribute significantly and was bundled out for 101. The Surrey Jaguars advanced to the championship game with a commanding 38-run victory.
The Brampton Wolves got off to a strong start in the second game of the day. With the defeat of Usman Khan (11) at the end of the powerplay, they were positioned at 34/1. Before being removed by Ayaan Khan in the middle of the innings, Aaron Johnson (31) had a brilliant knock. The innings ultimately crumbled as Colin Grandhomme (20) and Mark Chapman (11) failed to convert their beginnings. With a pitiful final score of 104/10, the Wolves lost. Matthew Forde demonstrated deadly accuracy with 4/16 figures.

The Tigers responded by quickly consuming their objective. Chris Lynn (63*) and M. Waseem (23) combined for a 72-run partnership as the openers. Chris Lynn was hitting ten boundaries with ease. With Chris Lynn by his side, Srimantha Wijeyeratne and the Tigers easily won by nine wickets (34 balls to go).
