Harmanpreet Kaur struggles to recollect playing XI at toss before of semi-final showdown with Bangladesh

In the Women’s Asia Cup 2024 final league match, Smriti Mandhana captained the Indian women’s team against Nepal as Harmanpreet Kaur was rested. But on July 26, the skipper of India made a comeback to the team for the semi-final matchup with Bangladesh. Harmanpreet was in a tricky predicament at the toss since she couldn’t remember the changes to the playing XI.

She remembers the adjustments when Dayalan Hemalatha was replaced by Uma Chetry in her debut Asia Cup 2024 match. Arundhati Reddy was replaced by Pooja Vastrakar, who was rested against Nepal as well. Harmanpreet came back to the side, forcing Sajeevan Sajana to give up her position. The right-handed batter emphasised at the toss that he needed to capitalise on the powerplay to stay ahead in the game.

“So far, we’ve played some excellent cricket. We also wish to support ourselves today. Regardless of whether you are batting first or second, powerplay is always crucial. They consistently provide solid competition and are a good side. For now, we must concentrate on the work we have already completed. At the toss, Harmanpreet stated, “We have a few changes.”

Our bowlers performed admirably: The Harmanpreet Kaur

India Women were holding Bangladesh to just 80 runs, and they were breathing fire. Both Renuka Singh and Radha Yadav took three wickets apiece, displaying their deadly form. India was not under any pressure when chasing, thanks to unbroken scores of 26 and 55 from Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana, respectively. With nine overs remaining and ten wickets in hand, India managed to achieve the target.

“Our bowlers performed admirably. They followed our lead in the team meeting and said everything we said. Extremely pleased with their bowling performance. We are under a great deal of pressure because we have been winning Asian cricket. Things are easy for us. We wish to express ourselves publicly. After the game, Harmanpreet remarked, “We work hard to prepare ourselves in the nets.”
