Sri Lanka ODI and T20I women's squads announced by Ireland

For the forthcoming T20I and ODI matches between Sri Lanka Women and Ireland Women, which will be played in Belfast and Dublin, squads have been chosen.

For the three ODIs and two T20Is, two 14-player squads have been selected; the ODI results will be used to determine the ICC Women’s Championship. The series will take place from August 8 to August 21.

In all configurations, Laura Delany will remain the team’s captain.

The first call-ups are Christina Coulter-Reilly and Alice Tector, the younger sister of Ireland Men’s international Harry Tector. 2019 saw Una Raymond-Hoey play her final international match before rejoining the senior team.

  • Ireland vs Sri Lanka, Pembroke – August 13th

ODIs:

  • Ireland vs Sri Lanka, Stormont – August 16th
  • Ireland vs Sri Lanka, Stormont – August 18th
  • Ireland vs Sri Lanka, Stormont – August 20th

Head coach, Ed Joyce on the challenge Sri Lanka will present across both series:

We know we want to see growth, therefore every international series is incredibly essential to us. Examining the outcomes is never easy, particularly when we are competing against teams that are ranked far higher than us.

“Sri Lanka has made great progress. We certainly wanted to face them in the [T20 World Cup] qualifying final, but we just couldn’t make it happen. Although their captain, Chamari Attapatu, is undoubtedly among the finest in the world, the rest of their players appear to be eager, youthful, and doing admirably. For us, then, I believe they are both really difficult series.
