"This news is actually news to me, It's obviously not nice when a coach comes under fire and there is a lot of speculation about his future," stated Morgan.

Eoin Morgan rejects being England's next white-ball coach, saying, "This news is actually news to me."

Eoin Morgan, a former captain of England, is reportedly set to take over as the country’s next white-ball head coach. On Tuesday, July 23, there were rumours circulating that Morgan might take Matthew Mott’s place as the new white-ball coach. It’s important to note that the leadership move is being considered in light of England’s unsuccessful ODI and T20 World Cup championship defence.

Mott was rumoured to be leaving the position, and England has begun to interview potential successors. Although Morgan has been associated with the position, the former captain promptly refuted these claims.

It’s definitely not ideal when a coach is under fire and there is a lot of talk about his future, but only time will tell what happens, Morgan told “This news is actually news to me.”

Morgan also expressed his opinion that, in the future, he would like the chance to coach a squad, but the timing needs to be right. He disclosed that spending time with his family is currently his top priority.

“Over the past few months, I’ve been asked a lot [in the media] about the job. When asked if I would accept it, I’ve just said that everything in my life right now is not at the proper time. I do hope to become a coach later on. However, I watch cricket at home more often than not because I have a small family [commentary]. I’m having so much fun with what I’m doing,” Morgan remarked.

It’s also important to remember that Rob Key, managing director of England, has said that the team’s white-ball cricket results may be reviewed in the upcoming weeks. Matthew Mott and England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler, who is presently sidelined due to a calf injury, could be under a lot of strain.
