India defeated Pakistan by seven wickets in their opening match of the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup. With the bowling, the Harmanpreet Kaur-led team was outstanding, limiting Pakistan to only 108 runs, which they then managed to chase down in 15 overs. Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave India the ideal start at bat with their 85-run opening partnership, and Deepti Sharma was the standout with the ball as she claimed three wickets.
Following the victory, captain Harmanpreet gave the bowlers and the openers credit for their contributions. Pakistan was under pressure as Renuka Singh Thakur and Pooja Vastrakar took early wickets with the ball, as he never appeared at ease. Sidra Ameen made an effort to take command of the circumstance, but she received no assistance from the other end. Harmanpreet, meanwhile, wants to carry on the momentum and intends to play the remaining games with a bold style of cricket.
“Our openers and bowlers succeeded. It’s always stressful to play the first game, but we did fine. The whole unit performed pretty nicely. According to India Today, Harmanpreet stated, “When we bowl, we talk about early breakthroughs and when we bat, we look to start well so credit to Smriti and Shafali.”

India is confident in its chances because the competition will be held in Bangladesh, which has spin-friendly conditions. They will face the United Arab Emirates in their next Asia Cup match on July 21.
