Paras Mhambrey discusses how he dealt with the absence of Bumrah throughout his term, saying, “The first thing is acceptance.”

We came to terms that he would not be with us. Naturally, we were keeping an eye on everything he did, and his coordination with the NCA was excellent, Mhambrey added.

Paras Mhambrey discusses how he dealt with the absence of Bumrah throughout his term, saying, "The first thing is acceptance."

Following the T20 World Cup 2024, Paras Mhambrey’s term as the Indian team’s bowling coach came to an end. When former Indian batter Rahul Dravid took over as head coach in November 2021, the 52-year-old became a member of the team.

Mhambrey has been in charge of Team India in a number of important competitions since 2021. The bowling coach worked hard to maximise India’s bowling attack from the 2022 T20 World Cup to the 2023 ODI World Cup.
It’s important to remember that Mhambrey was injured for a significant portion of his time as bowling coach, which prevented him from using star bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He recently came up to discuss his coping mechanisms with Bumrah’s absence.

Acceptance comes first. We came to terms with his absence. Naturally, we were keeping an eye on everything he did, and his coordination with the NCA was excellent. When he entered, he was hurt once more. and it was undoubtedly difficult because we were considering him for the WTC final, where the circumstances were ideal for him, Mhambrey stated in a Venkata Krishna B interview.

If he had been accessible, the situation might have been completely different: Paras Mhambrey

Moreover, Bumrah’s absence, according to Paras Mhambrey, helped the Indian team produce someone like Mohammed Siraj. He disclosed that the competitiveness among the team’s bowlers was encouraging.

If he had been accessible, things might have turned out quite differently. However, we were aware of the duration of his absence and the World Cup was rapidly approaching.

We knew just how to get him back into the fold, and we started with T20s. At the same time, it helped us shape someone like Siraj. He assumed accountability and led the assault. “Seeing some competition was good,” Mhambrey remarked.
