Few have the same close knowledge of batters’ abilities and weaknesses as former batting instructor Vikram Rathour. After rejoining the men’s squad in November 2021, he has examined the methods and approaches of many hitters in both net sessions and games. He recently spoke on Rinku Singh’s talent and abilities, implying that they might open the door to a bright future for the Test player.
Vikram Rathour thought that every time he watched Rinku bat in the nets, he was thinking that the left-hander had all he needed to be a productive red-ball hitter for his country.
Rathour, cited by ESPNcricinfo, said, “When I watch him bat in the nets, I can’t find any technical reasons why Rinku cannot be a successful Test batter.”
Furthermore, Rathour conceded that although Rinku had established himself as a superb finisher in Twenty20 cricket in his early career, his first-class record told a different story. Rathour also complimented Rinku on his calm demeanour, saying that these qualities together indicated that Rinku may develop into a Test cricketer given enough chances.
“Although his first-class record shows that he is averaging in the high 50s, I am aware that he has established himself as a fantastic finisher in T20 cricket. He is also endowed with an extremely serene disposition. Thus, all these things suggest that he has the potential to become a Test cricketer,” Rathour continued.

The 26-year-old batsman, it’s interesting to note, has a very good first-class record, scoring 3173 runs for his state of Uttar Pradesh in 69 innings, including 20 half-centuries and seven hundreds. In addition, he keeps up an excellent average of 54.70. However, he has never been given any thought as to whether or not to join India’s Test team. What will happen to this story in the near future is still interesting to watch.
