Only because of the tenacious hitting of outstanding wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson was the visiting team able to reach such a total. The 29-year-old not only helped his team win the game in the end but also scored 58 runs in 45 deliveries.
India defeated Zimbabwe 4-1 to wrap up their five-match Twenty20 International series. The Men in Blue had an incredible comeback in the series after dropping the opening game, going on to win every game thereafter. India batted first in the fifth Twenty20 International of the series, scoring 167 runs overall.
Samson’s hit also made an impression on former Indian cricketer Abhinav Mukund. While guiding the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League has made Samson a more mature player, the 34-year-old pointed out that he has not recently made the most of his talent.
“Being Sanju Samson in Indian cricket is difficult because, despite his immense talent, he occasionally irritates you and lacks maturity. I think that’s where being an IPL captain, as he previously told me, has really benefited him because he deals with young players like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag in addition to superstars,” Mukund told SonySports.
That’s when his development as a hitter shows through. In Indian cricket, there is currently fierce competition for the position of wicketkeeper. “Listen, I am still here, so you better not count me out in any of these conversations,” stated Sanju Samson in a recent statement.

The Indian squad was able to make a superb performance with the ball after scoring 167 runs in the first innings. During the pursuit for runs, the hosts were bowled out for a mere 125 runs, while Mukesh Kumar claimed the most wickets in the match with four.
India won the fifth Twenty20 international match by 42 runs thanks to two wickets from Shivam Dube and one each from Tushar Deshpande, Washington Sundar, and Abhishek Sharma.
