Yashasvi Jaiswal, referring to similarities between Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, said, "Me and Gill are trying to take it match-by-match."
After 17 years, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli helped India win the T20 World Cup. They just announced their retirements from T20I cricket.

As India won the title with an undefeated record, they started together during the main event. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, who opened together in the third and fourth Twenty20 Internationals of the current series against Zimbabwe, are predicted to take up the baton after their retirements.

The youthful pair held Zimbabwe to 159/6 in the third Twenty20 International, setting a target of 182/4 in their 20 overs thanks to a 67-run partnership off 50 balls for India. In the fourth Twenty20 International on Saturday, July 13, at the same location, they were unstoppable, putting together an undefeated 156-run partnership in only 15.2 overs, which enabled India to easily chase down a 153-run goal.

Yashasvi’s brilliant performance of 93 not out off 53 balls in the fourth Twenty20 International gave him the Player of the Match title. The Southpaw, who was a member of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 last month, expressed his desire for neither Rohit nor Kohli to have to shoulder the weight of expectations at such an early stage of their careers while also acknowledging the incredible accomplishments of the two players.

Being a part of that dressing room is a blessing, and I think what they have done for Indian cricket is just amazing. During a media conference following the fourth Twenty20 International, Jaiswal said to reporters, “Gill and I are attempting to take it match-by-match and one day at a time, concentrating on the process.

There were two sixes and thirteen fours in Yashasvi’s knock. Gill, meanwhile, scored 58 off 39 balls without giving up, playing a brilliant knock. Throughout his innings, the acting captain of India smashed two sixes and six fours. It was his second half-century in a row.

India’s victory on Saturday gave them an unstoppable 3-1 advantage, which effectively secured the series. The Men in Blue hope to wrap up the tour with another victory when they play the meaningless fifth Twenty20 International on Sunday.
