After 17 years, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli helped India win the T20 World Cup. They just announced their retirements from T20I cricket.
As India won the title with an undefeated record, they started together during the main event. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, who opened together in the third and fourth Twenty20 Internationals of the current series against Zimbabwe, are predicted to take up the baton after their retirements.
The youthful pair held Zimbabwe to 159/6 in the third Twenty20 International, setting a target of 182/4 in their 20 overs thanks to a 67-run partnership off 50 balls for India. Yashasvi’s brilliant performance of 93 not out off 53 balls in the fourth Twenty20 International gave him the Player of the Match title.
