Report: PCB postpones Babar Azam's leadership, Shan Masood to lead Tests
The newly elected Test head coach Jason Gillespie and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the country’s highest cricket regulatory body, have shown confidence in young Shan Masood to serve as captain going forward.

Strangely enough, the board decided to postpone making a judgement about Babar Azam’s status as their captain going forward in the limited-overs format.

Notably, the Green Shirts’ international cricket schedule is jam-packed. Later this year, in October, they will play three Test matches against England as part of their hosting duties. Additionally, they will play, in that order, against Bangladesh, South Africa, and the West Indies.

The national selectors Jason Gillespie, Gary Kirsten, and Azhar Mahmood met with the PCB on Wednesday to discuss the team’s performance in the just finished T20 World Cup. Senior board officials were also present. In addition, Masood, who was named captain for the Australia tour, was given complete authority to carry out his captaincy because of the way he conducted himself as the team’s leader during the meeting.

The NDTV cited a source as stating, “The meeting was held to discuss ways to move forward with a comprehensive blueprint for the national team in red and white ball formats.” This is according to the most recent events.

He said, “Shan received support at the meeting to continue as Test captain for the forthcoming series between August and January against Bangladesh, England, South Africa, and the West Indies.”

Regarding the current captain of the Green Shirts, Babar Azam, his ability to manage the squad and motivate the players to perform under extreme pressure became a hot topic and drew criticism from cricket experts and fans alike. During the T20 World Cup, Pakistan particularly faltered in pressure-filled matches. Their defeat against the USA, who are considered the minnows, also caused the fans to lose interest in them.

Because of their combined ineptitude, the selection committee should be fired: Nawaz

Former Pakistani speed legend Sarfraz Nawaz has expressed his displeasure with the selection committee’s recent management practises. Thus, following a miserable World Cup campaign, he had written to the PCB demanding that the entire committee be fired for their incompetence. In addition, Nawaz thought that the present committee lacked integrity in its work. Additionally, he disclosed that he was certain Wahab Riaz was an incompetent administrator, and he wrote to Zaka Ashraf and Mohsin Naqvi, the current and former PCB chiefs, expressing his disapproval of the former Pakistan pacer’s election as chief selector.

“Since the selecting committee was incompetent and failed as a group, they ought to be fired as a group. Regarding Wahab’s alleged history and his incompetence as an administrator, I am known to have addressed letters to Zaka (Ashraf) and (Mohsin) Naqvi. Nawaz concluded, “Nobody took my advice seriously.
