After the team’s miserable performances at the T20 World Cup 2024, Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has called white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten to discuss the team’s future.
After losing to both India and the United States in the group stages of the competition, Pakistan was eliminated. Additionally, they were forced to leave during the World Cup 2023 league stages, and their decision to name Babar Azam captain again was ineffective.
Following Pakistan’s flight from New York to home during the tournament, Naqvi asked Kirsten and Wahab Riaz to provide a report on the occasion. Fans and former Pakistani cricket players have been extremely agitated due to the team’s ongoing struggles, and Babar’s captaincy has also come under scrutiny. Naqvi stated prior to the summons that they had not spoken about the top batter’s potential as captain.

After losing by six runs in the end, Akram criticised the squad for playing with the emotions of the entire nation.
