We will win the WTC Final and the Champions Trophy under Rohit Sharma's leadership: Jay Shah

Rohit Sharma will captain the Men in Blue in both the World Test Championship (WTC) final and the ICC Champions Trophy the following year, if India advances, according to BCCI secretary Jay Shah.

India defeated South Africa in the finals on June 29 to win the T20 World Cup 2024, led by the inspired Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai batter won an ICC tournament for the first time in 11 years, and throughout the campaign, he won over both fans and experts with his tactical prowess. Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, and Rohit declared their retirements from Twenty20 international cricket after winning the major tournament. They will still compete for the national team in the other two formats, though.

Jay Shah has now said that till the World Test Championship (WTC) cycle and the ICC Champions Trophy conclude, Rohit Sharma will lead the team in the remaining two formats. In 2025, these two events will reach their zenith.

In a video that has quickly gone popular on social media, Shah stated, “I am confident that we will win the WTC Final and the Champions Trophy under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma.”

As of right now, India is leading the WTC points standings for the 2023–2025 season. This cycle, they have only lost a few Tests and won six of the nine. One Test was drawn in the interim. India participated in the first two World Tennis Championship finals, however they were defeated by Australia and New Zealand, respectively. This time, Rohit would like to lead his squad to victory.

Zimbabwe and India are presently engaged in a five-match Twenty20 International series. The Men in Blue have already lost the first game, as on Saturday, July 6, at the Harare Sports Club, Zimbabwe trounced the tourists by a score of 13 runs.

Several young players who performed well in the Indian Premier League (IPL) were given the chance to exhibit their skills, therefore the older players were rested for this tour. For the ODI portion of the Sri Lanka tour, the older players might make a comeback.
