The Proteas really missed one player in particular, Chloe Tryon. India Women have dominated South African women in Australia, as they lost the one-off Test match in Chennai and were thoroughly defeated in the ODI series. As they begin the T20I series, which begins in Chennai on July 5, they will be looking to turn things around. Tryon will return for the T20I series after missing several months of action owing to an injury.
Tryon has a back problem in addition to a groyne injury she got during the Women’s Big Bash League’s final season. Tryon said prior to her comeback to the national team that it was difficult for her to watch her team play on TV and miss out on the action. Additionally, she stated that the goal is to bat deep, particularly when entering the batting order at number four.
“Although I enjoy watching cricket, I don’t watch the Proteas too often. Wished I was there right in the thick of things, it gets a little stressful. Playing is what you should always be doing, especially in the subcontinent. I used to come in the third or fourth over of batting and put so much pressure on myself to score runs that I would finally get out most of the time. I was an explosive batter when I first started batting. Tryon was described by Sportstar as saying, “Right now, we’re just kind of simplifying it and looking at it as 18 balls (at a time) and trying to stay there as long as I can.”

The Proteas are really excited about the next series since they will be competing against the best in Bangladesh for the trophy of the T20 World Cup. It is noteworthy that, prior to the series against India, South Africa was rated fifth in T20I and had never won an ICC Trophy. Tryon stated that all departments needed to get clicking before the event.

“There were occasions, when I felt we could have done a better job watching from home, during pivotal periods in games. In spurts, we’ve played some really excellent cricket. There have been positive phases as well as some negative ones. The idea is to increase uniformity throughout departments,” she continued.
