Indian squad wins hearts with heartwarming gesture to media staff on the journey home

During a lengthy journey back to India, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma, head coach Rahul Dravid, and other players won over hearts with their considerate gesture towards journalists. Hurricane Beryl triggered flight cancellations all around the island, leaving the Men in Blue trapped in Barbados for three days.

In response, the players, their families, and Indian journalists covering the event were flown home safely by a special charter flight operated by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The cricket players and the media had an unanticipated chance to mingle during the 16-hour flight from Barbados to New Delhi. Jay Shah had earlier offered to take the stranded Indian media home on the same flight as the players. The journalists were travelling in Economy, while the players were in Business Class, but the events that occurred during the flight were anything but ordinary.

Men in Blue leave for a special celebration in Mumbai.

According to accounts, a number of important players of the Indian cricket squad, including coach Dravid, Rohit Sharma, vice captain Hardik Pandya, Yuzvendra Chahal, Suryakumar Yadav, and coach Dravid, stopped by and spent some time with the media in Economy Class despite the initial orders for seclusion.

A unique chance that further strengthened the relationship between the team and the media was provided by the BCCI, which permitted journalists to hold and take pictures with the T20 World Cup trophy. On Thursday morning, the crew eventually made it to the capital city and proceeded directly to the team accommodation.

Following that, the entire team and the coach departed for PM Narendra Modi’s house for a meet and greet. In the afternoon, the champions will head to Mumbai for the BCCI-organized special open-top bus procession. The parade will start at Nariman Point, go across Marine Drive, and end at Wankhede Stadium, covering around one kilometre. The team will receive their monetary incentive at a special function that the board has planned at the stadium.
