‘How will you tell him not to express himself’ – Rishabh Pant’s playstyle is examined by Deep Dasgupta

Following his cheap dismissal against Bangladesh in India’s most recent T20 World Cup 2024 match, star Indian wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant left the crowd fuming. After India’s openers failed to score much, Pant appeared to be headed for a big innings. The great player appeared to be in control after scoring 36 runs in 24 deliveries.

But he gave up his wicket cheaply when trying to sweep, which even caused Virat Kohli to become irate. Not only was Kohli offended, but many other fans were as well, and they vented their frustration on social media at Pant’s poor shot selection.

Former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta, however, stepped out to support Pant, saying that it has always been the way he has played the game and that you cannot expect him to keep his emotions in check when he is on the pitch.

How are you going to instruct Pant to refrain from expressing himself and from doing the reverse sweep? (laughs). He also executes that shot against the pacers with skill. It gets a little complicated for the coaches because you want him to play the way he naturally does, but you also don’t want to bench him. Deep Dasgupta stated on Star Sports Game Plan, “I believe the conversation would be to urge him to play however he wants as long as he is not getting ejected.

Also speaking on the same panel was former India spinner Harbhajan Singh, who discussed India’s forthcoming match against Australia in the T20 World Cup 2024 Super Eight stage. He said that Glenn Maxwell will require particular preparation from India, and that the spinners might have an impact.

On these slow wickets, Kuldeep has been bowling effectively and hasn’t given the batters too many balls to go back on the back foot and hit him for sixes. It will therefore be difficult for you to approach him. Although Maxwell is erratic and capable of blowing up at either end, Harbhajan Singh stated, “I think he has scored his season’s worth of runs against Afghanistan and I think Kuldeep will dominate him.”
