Chandika Hathurusingha eases Bangladesh's strain ahead of the Super 8 campaign, saying, "Anything from here for us is bonus."

Chandika Hathurusingha, the head coach of Bangladesh, was keen not to put too much pressure on his players as they got ready to play Australia in Antigua. He made it clear that their main goal going into the competition was to make it to the Super 8. Hathurusingha gave the squad, especially the bowling unit, credit for using the circumstances to their advantage. He said that all of the squad was thrilled to be one of the seven teams in the Super 8s and that any more success was an added bonus. He felt that the team could play with maximum flexibility if they adopted this viewpoint. Furthermore, Hathurusingha felt confident Bangladesh would pose a strong and resilient challenge.

Bangladesh is going to play in the T20 World Cup Super 8s for the first time ever. In the 50-over World Cup, they have been on the winning side of some exciting upsets and matches, but in the Super 8s, they have historically struggled to secure victories. Everyone involved with Bangladesh cricket, especially the players, finds it nearly amazing that there has been such a dramatic upsurge in performance, especially after the country lost a series to co-hosts the USA shortly before the tournament began. Their ambition to perform is probably increased since they now have a higher bar to meet as a result of their newfound success.

“Our primary goal entering the competition was to make it to the Super 8. We were able to stay in the game because to the excellent bowling performance of our team, I believe. As a result, we took full advantage of the circumstances and played them well. As a result, we are thrilled to be here and are looking forward to the future. Anything beyond this point is a plus for us.

We so have a great deal of flexibility while we play. And we’re going to give each of the three teams our best shot,” Chandika Hathurusingha told the reporters, as Cricbuzz reported. According to Cricbuzz, Hathurusingha told the press, “And we are going to challenge all three teams as best we can.”

While enjoying themselves is always important, they also have a duty to the team: Chandika Hathurusingha

Having fun while carrying out one’s responsibilities on the pitch is what the 55-year-old stressed is the core of the game. But he was keen to add that playing freely doesn’t mean straying from your designated role on the team. He was an advocate of a mature attitude to handling game conditions, saying that players should fully adhere to their specialised tasks for the benefit of the team, even though enjoying match scenarios should be their primary goal.

“For enjoyment. We do not deprive the gamers of their delight, therefore. That does not give them carte blanche to do anything they choose. We play cricket for fun, whether we are representing our country, a club, or a park. They have a specific job to perform on the team, and in order to fulfil it, they must always feel free to enjoy themselves. Chandika Hathurusingha continued, “While enjoyment is always important, they also have responsibilities to the team.
