South African skipper Aiden Markram made headlines before the match by reflecting on the United States’ strong performance in the tournament thus far and promising to give the co-hosts a run for their money.
“They have been excellent. I believe that many people, including them, will refer to smaller nations, but they have demonstrated that they are no longer a minor team. Markam was quoted by News18 as stating, “So, we’re going to have to be on our best game and hopefully things go well, but I’m excited for that challenge.”
